For many years Pirleyhill Farm was under the stewardship of the hard-working and amiable Fergus Patterson. Mr Paterson successfully ran the farm on his own, steadily building it up into a pillar of the local community, forming lasting relationships and providing high-quality natural produce for the surrounding areas. As with all of us though, he had his age to contend with, and by 2004 was looking for help running the farm.

It was then that he approached the current owner of the farm. Stuart Andrew had been born and brought up on a farm before going off to University and earning a degree in Media Technology. From there, he worked in the IT industry building websites and working on various digital marketing projects.

Despite enjoying a successful career, farming still flowed through his veins and the itch to one day return to that life was something he could never shake off. As you can imagine, Mr Paterson’s request for help was very well received.

In 2004, a partnership deal was agreed between Stuart and Mr Paterson, which continued until his passing in 2015. Two years later and Stuart successfully purchased and took over the farm in his own right. Due to the uncertainty and market fluctuations within the agricultural industry, it was decided that it would be a good idea to diversify the operations on the farm and incorporate some holiday pods. This way, the farm would be able to increase revenue by welcoming tourists on to the farm, while continuing to operate as a farm.

Stuart runs the farm with his two sons, who are 17 and 20. Pirleyhill Farm is now very much a family run affair and guests are always given a warm welcome and made to feel like a part of that family.

Pirleyhill looks forward to seeing you. This is where experiences and memories are made, friendships are shared and life is lived.
